Protection Classes for SUVs
Various levels of ballistic protection are available for SUVs. The choice depends on potential threats and operating conditions:
- Class B4 (VPAM-3) — protection against 9mm and .44 Magnum pistol bullets, optimal for urban conditions
- Class B5 — protection against 5.45mm and 5.56mm automatic weapon bullets
- Class B6 (VPAM-4) — protection against 7.62x51mm armor-piercing bullets, highest level for wheeled vehicles
- Class B7 — protection against armor-piercing incendiary bullets, rarely used due to significant weight
Features of Premium Vehicle Armoring
Owners of premium SUVs expect comfort and driving qualities to be preserved after armoring. We pay special attention to these aspects. We use lightweight composite materials where possible, carefully calculate the distribution of additional weight so as not to disturb the vehicle's balance.
Electric window and door drives are adapted to the increased weight of armored elements. Reinforced hinges and gas struts are installed. The air conditioning system is checked for ability to work with additional load due to thick armored glass.
Chassis Modernization
Full SUV armoring adds from 400 to 800 kg of weight depending on the protection class. To compensate, we perform comprehensive modernization:
- Replacement of springs or torsion bars with reinforced ones accounting for additional weight
- Installation of heavy-duty shock absorbers (Bilstein, Fox, King)
- Brake system modernization — enlarged discs and multi-piston calipers
- If necessary — reinforcement of differential and drive shafts
Additional Equipment
In addition to basic armoring, we offer installation of additional equipment: RunFlat systems for continued driving with punctured tires, sirens and flashing lights, radio communication systems, GPS trackers, dashcams with 360-degree view. Painting is done in any color — from standard shades to tactical camouflage.
